That Girl & The Laid Backs is a garage band from Goleta, CA. While new as a unit, its members have familiar roots in the Santa Barbara music scene, with a healthy local fan base eager to hear them play live in one of their favorite local watering holes.
The band consists of singer/songwriter Tina Sicre, Bryan “Smitty” Smith on drums, David Cowan on lead guitar, and bassist Robert Douglas holding down the low end. Individually, they’ve played all over the world. Collectively, they’ve been making music since last century in projects such as The Phil Cody Band, Claude Hopper, 12 Stories, Jah B One, The Adobe, along with various solo projects. And then there are all of the bands Robert has been in (check ‘em out).
Their folk-pop-rock sound rings of influences ranging from 70’s era Fleetwood Mac and the U2 of the 80’s, to contemporaries such as Brandi Carlile, The Lumineers, and The Head and The Heart. Performing all original songs, That Girl & The Laid Backs' catchy melodies and clever lyrics range from being deeply in like, to straight up key your ex's car cuckoo, with a bit of everything in between. A little something for everyone.
Currently seeking opportunities to play outside of their garage, the band is eager to add their sound and talents to the current local music scene. From there, who knows where they’ll go…
